Howdy, this months newsletter is from way out in West Texas where I explored its rugged past and epic Mountains. As usual this drop has all the details — campsite coords, recent road updates, and a few insider tips. Whether you're planning your own run or just doing some research this letter has the info.

CAMPSITE BREAKDOWN
Guale 1 – [Big Bend Ranch State Park, TX]
In this month's video I explored a small portion of West Texas, old ranches, scenic trails and the unbelievable view atop Christmas Mountain. But YouTube only has so much time… so below is the campsite breakdown.

  • Quick Stats Elevation: ~4200 ft | Rigs: 2 | Cell: Verizon None, AT&T None | Best seasons: Winter

  • Getting There about 30 miles round trip which took about 3.5 hours to traverse. Stock 4×4 rigs can make it but be aware of heavy brush and pinstriping. Non 4×4 rigs may have trouble and should not attempt solo.

  • On-Site Details

    • Fire rings: none

    • Privacy: high – super secluded with a usually beautiful night sky

    • Amenities: None (pack out everything)

  • Pros / Cons Pros: Amazing view of the stars at night. The park is a Dark Sky park which means its as dark as it gets at night. Cons: You’re in the Desert so the weather is super unpredictable.

  • Exact Coordinates & Tips Primary spot: 29.42159, -104.01241 Pro hack: Reserve campsites months in advance because they book fast.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
This was my third attempt at a night sky timelapse and its my best one yet. Doesn’t look like much on here but looked decent in the video. Not bad for an action camera.

The Big Bend Sky

A piece of mining equipment we saw a long the trail. I think it was used to crush cinnabar ore but could be wrong. If you know reply to the email with what it is!

Ore Crusher?

SCRIPTURE OF THE MONTH
No scripture this month. This time I want to share something I heard during church. The pastor said “Worship is a Lifestyle” and I think that is true and not really emphasized today. It’s not about going to church, singing songs, and tithing. It’s about living for Christ daily, that is true worship.

See ya in next months letter drop. Call your buddies today and plan that trip! - Rick
